Wishful Thinking is about those experiences in which we could not indulge in during 2020 and beyond due to the global pandemic which inhibited travel, social contact, and creative economies worldwide. It came from a hopeful place, understanding that, while we may not have been able to experience our world, the experiences we are missing out on are deeply embedded in our sensory memories. A kind of reverse theme and variations, Wishful Thinking imitates the phenomenon of remembering something different about a memory each time you recall it, each section foreshadowing another.
Wishful Thinking was funded with support from Stephanie Carlson, Coreen Levin, Alexis Mitchell, Jenna Sehmann, Everette Smith, and Joseph Tomasso.
After careful consideration and consultation with Carolyn Hove, English hornist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Wishful Thinking has been revised for 2024. The new version is available from Trevco.
