Every few years or so I write a work for harp about some kind of bipedal adventure for Danielle Kuntz, and this was the most recent installment, after Switchback Daredevils and Wasatch Crest. Rail trails are abandoned railroads that have been repurposed as public biking trails, some stretching hundreds of miles through the American wilderness. This work centers the rail trail that traverses between Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh.
After August 2024's Open Skies (a month Twitch stream in which I host Blue Skies conversations) when we had discussed the idea, I wrote Rail Trail in a fevered rush, instantly transported to lush forests and abandoned railways repurposed.
Rail Trail is under exclusivity until its premiere, after which it will be made available at Trevco Music.
